Meet the Doctors
Dr. Kathryn Cook D.D.S. P.C. is the owner of Children's Dentistry with a Mother's Touch. Dr. Cook is a Pediatric Dentist, which is the dental equivalent to a Pediatrician. Pediatric Dentists must complete an additional two-year residency after dental school, where they learn how to handle the specific needs of children and teenagers. Dr. Kathryn Cook completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she was the Chief Resident. Additionally, Dr. Cook was trained in sedation and anesthesia at the Children's Hospital and maintains a Virginia sedation permit. Dr. Cook also regularly attends seminars and lectures to keep current on the latest diagnostic and treatment procedures for her patients. Dr. Cook is a mother of six, so she understands the challenges of maintaining good dental hygiene with children at home as well as the complexity of treating children in an office environment. Dr. Cook is the most experienced Pediatric Dentist in Charlottesville and has been serving the area for 20 years.
Dr. Kim grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a Biological Sciences degree in 2012. She earned her doctorate of dental medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine in 2016. She graduated from dental school and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental Honor Society and was also a recipient of the Dean's Scholar Award. After dental school, Dr. Kim received her pediatric dental certificate and a Master of Science in Dentistry degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry. Her Master's thesis was on the impact of sensory adapted dental environment on children with developmental disabilities. Dr. Kim's work has been inspired by long years of interaction with children with disabilities, through volunteering, working as a recreational assistant at a rehabilitation center, and volunteering at the Special Olympic games. Dr. Kim enjoys pencil drawing and watercolor painting. She also enjoys cooking, hiking, and traveling. She is excited to explore Charlottesville and to serve this wonderful community.
Dr. Jazmin Floyd was born and raised in New Jersey. She is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now known as Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. She completed a one-year general practice residency at Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey. The residency allowed her to solidify her interest in working with pediatric patients, while increasing her skills to provide the utmost compassionate care to her patients. She has practiced as a general dentist in Richmond, VA prior to completing her pediatric dentistry postdoctoral training at Howard University College of Dentistry. Dr. Floyd was awarded for her academic achievement for the highest grade point average during the two years of postdoctoral study. She is very passionate about community service and prevention of dental disease through education. Her goal is to make each visit an educational, fun and comfortable experience, while building long lasting relationships with her patients and their families. Dr. Floyd has volunteered her time on mission trips to educate and provide dental care to children of Haiti and Morocco. When not in the office Dr. Floyd enjoys cooking, traveling, running outdoors and spending quality time with her husband and their dog, Nina.
