The First Visit
For the first visit, our main goal is to establish a level of comfort and trust by familiarizing you and your child with what we do. We will examine your child’s mouth, take x-rays if needed, clean his or her teeth and give topical fluoride. We will then sit down and talk with you and your child about how to start healthy habits like diet, brushing, and fluoride use. Every child is different and we will create an individualized treatment plan so your child will look forward to a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Preventative Dental Care
The earlier the dental visit, the better the chances are to prevent dental problems, and Dr. Cook can help by providing a personalized system of preventive dentistry for your child starting from their first dental visit.
Preventative dentistry means a healthy smile for your child. Children with healthy mouths chew more easily and gain more nutrients from the foods they eat. A healthy mouth is more attractive, giving children confidence in their appearance.
At your child’s first visit and at every check-up after, Dr. Cook can design a personalized program of correct brushing and flossing instructions, diet counseling, and fluoride recommendations. Together, with your help, we will show you how to practice simple techniques to help prevent problems in your child’s growing teeth.
Restorative Dental Care
Even with the best efforts, cavities happen. In addition to keeping abreast of the most modern techniques Dr. Cook offers compassionate, gentle dental treatment.
Anesthesia and Sedation
General anesthesia is a controlled state of unconsciousness that eliminates awareness, movement and discomfort during dental treatment. A physician or dentist with specialized training can use various medications to provide general anesthesia for patients receiving dental care.
– Nitrous Oxide sedation
– Conscious sedation
– I.V./General anesthesia
